Commercial Refurbishment- What’s involved?
Commercial refurbishment involves updating, renovating, or restoring a commercial property to improve its appearance, functionality, compliance, or value. It’s often undertaken to modernise outdated spaces, adapt buildings for new tenants or purposes, or bring them up to code. Refurbishment of a commercial space can be the whole space or just elements of the space.
A commercial refurbishment usually starts with planning and consultation; the client will consider what they want to achieve and a budget for the works. Once the details and price have been finalised by the client and contractor, the removal of old fixtures, partitions, flooring, and sometimes structural elements will begin. The contractor will then start any structural works that need doing such as alterations to walls, ceilings, or floors. If needed any heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing or electrical work will happen before the interior finishes start. Interior finishes may include adding partitions and ceilings, laying new flooring and painting and decorating. Next any new or existing furniture is put back in the room, possibly in a new format to create more space. Finally, any final touches are done and the contracts manager will handover to the client.
